Rated R Hawaii credits it’s birth to the union of Ryan and Nathaniel Whittaker. Based in Honolulu, Hawaii, Rated R draws inspiration from Japanese street wear, the British punk movement of the 70’s, drag, sci-if, and pop culture.
We often use unconventional materials, repurposed hardware, and upcycled garments together in each one of a kind design. Our thoughtful mix of prints and color pays homage to the vibrant, diverse nature of our unique home. Ryan charges Hawaii’s laid back island vibe with attitude and sass, while remaining respectful to its rich contemporary and native cultures.
We explore fashion through a chaotically focused lens that is unapologetically audacious, thoughtfully driven, and most importantly, authentically fearless.
